Mr Ferrer hails from the Philippines and is a founding member of the Singapore Dance Theatre

Mr Ferrer hails from the Philippines and is a founding member of the Singapore Dance Theatre. During his time with SDT, Mr Ferrer taught and choreographed several outstanding pieces for the company’s Children Season, such as The Ugly Duckling (1991), Hansel and Gretel (1993), and The Elfin Mount (1994). Mr Ferrer also took time to train and choreograph for various non-professional groups and elite schools for their anniversary shows and Singapore Youth Festival (SYF) Competition. In addition, Mr Ferrer was specially invited to the Nishino Ballet School in Osaka, Japan to be a guest teacher. In 1994, Mr Ferrer attended the Royal Academy of Dancing Professional Dance Teacher’s Course in London, where he graduated with distinction. He made history by being the first recipient of the Jerwood prize for being the most outstanding graduate.

Upon his return, Mr Ferrer joined Singapore Chinese Girls" School as full-time Ballet Master for 6 years. He choreographed and co-directed many of SCGS’s dance productions. Mr Ferrer was also a part-time ballet teacher at Crestar Learning Centre, specializing under the systems of the Royal Academy of Dancing (RAD, UK) and Commonwealth Society of Teachers of Dancing (CSTD, Australia). In addition, he was a Consultant to LaSalle-SIA College of the Arts’s School of Dance, and a part-time ballet teacher in Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts.

In 2001, Mr Ferrer founded Attitude Performing Arts Studio and coupled with his wealth of experience in dance education and choreography, he has been the sole artistic director for Attitude’s annual dance productions (refer to Mr Ferrer’s works below). Under the guidance of Mr Ferrer, Pilates-the-Studio was formed in 2004 to provide support and help especially for dancers who require body conditioning.

Mr Ferrer has also taken much effort and care to groom young talents in Attitude’s Performing Group for the Commonwealth Society of Teachers of Dancing, Asia-Pacific Dance Competition, held in Perth and Singapore from 1998-2007.

Presently, besides teaching ballet, Mr Ferrer has devoted more time to teach Pilates and Gyrotonics, because he firmly believes in the necessity of strength building for dancers. No doubt, Mr Ferrer is actively working towards creating a dynamic professional Dance Company at Attitude Performing Arts Studio.

Alycia began formal training in Ballet and Contemporary Modern dance at Lasalle-SIA College of the Arts

Alycia began formal training in Ballet and Contemporary Modern dance at Lasalle-SIA College of the Arts. She was a recipient of the National Arts Council Georgette Chen Arts Scholarship in 2000 and graduated with a Diploma in Dance with distinction in 2002. Upon graduation, Alycia joined Attitude Performing Arts Studio. She teaches Ballet and Funky Jazz in Attitude and has been freelancing since 2005. A highlight of her choreography was “Moving-on” being awarded the Perpetual trophy at the Commonwealth Society of Teachers of Dancing (CSTD) 4th Asia-Pacific Dance Competition. She performed and choreographed at Attitude annual concerts ‘ONE’ (2003), ‘That’s Attitude’ (2004), ‘Nutcracker Act II and etcetera...’ (2005), performed with Ballet Magnificat ‘Deliver Us’ (2003), and other contemporary dance pieces ~ ‘Box.ed’ (2003) and most recently, ‘Sojourn’ (2006). Privileged to be trained under Mr. Donato C. Ferrer, Ms. Ravenna Tucker and Ms. Elizabeth Thng, Alycia completed the Royal Academy of Dance (RAD) Intermediate examination and CSTD Elementary and Intermediate examination. She pursued further studies and holds a Certificate of Higher Education in Dance Teaching from the University of Surrey, UK. Mentored by Mr. Donato C. Ferrer, she attained Royal Academy of Dance Teacher certificate.

Ms Alice graduated from Lasalle College of the Arts with a Bachelor Degree in Dance at the year of 2009

Ms Alice graduated from Lasalle College of the Arts with a Bachelor Degree in Dance at the year of 2009. Majoring in both ballet and contemporary dance, she has been a scholar for Cheng Ballet academy in the year of 2007 doing repertoire such as Snow White and Nutcracker. She too, performed for many international contemporary artists at the international platform such as the TARI Festival in Malaysia and International Youth Festival in Macau. She is currently attached to a contemporary dance company called T.H.E Second Dance Company where she recently performed for their Emerging Choreographers II at the NUS Theatre. Ms Alice is now a teacher in our studio teaching ballet and jazz. We believe with her experiences as a dancer will be a great contribution to our student here in Attitude.

Laura’s passion for dance developed at the young age of 3 when she began her training in Queensland, Australia

Laura’s passion for dance developed at the young age of 3 when she began her training in Queensland, Australia. She has since trained extensively in Jazz, Tap, Ballet and many other facets of dance.

Laura has competed successfully in many competitions throughout Australia and performed regularly in Concerts and Conventions. She holds a CSTD teachers certificate in Jazz, Tap and Theatrical and a CSTD Diploma. As well as her Advanced 2 Certificate with the Royal Academy of Dance.

Sophie has been dancing since the age of 7, when she joined the Conservatoire National of Nice in southern France.

Sophie has been dancing since the age of 7, when she joined the Conservatoire National of Nice in southern France.

She graduated in Lyon with a diploma in ballet in 2000, with additional qualifications in jazz and modern dance, excelling at numerous competitions in France and Switzerland.

A professional dancer at 19, Sophie moved to Hong Kong to train with the Hong Kong Ballet and then travelled the globe performing, teaching, and assisting in classical and contemporary choreography. She has danced for many major celebrities in video clips and movies, as well as for fashion houses like Louis Vuitton and Cartier.

Sophie started teaching ballet and jazz at the DMR School of Ballet in Hong Kong in 2006 and also taught in Dubai before moving to Singapore.

Sarah Mackenzie comes from an extensive performing arts background, starting her trainig at the age of 3 at the Conroy Dance Centre in Brisbane, Australia.

Sarah Mackenzie comes from an extensive performing arts background, starting her trainig at the age of 3 at the Conroy Dance Centre in Brisbane, Australia. Her dance life presented her with opportunities to perform in New York, Disney World and Universal Studios in Orlando, Dubai and various places throughout Australia with the Starz Production Team. Sarah graduated from the Conroy Performing Arts Collage in 2011 and holds her Teachers Diplomas in Jazz and Tap for the CSTD. She traveled to Hong Kong to teach at the Glenda Allen Dance Academy in 2012 before joining Attitude Performing Arts Studio in 2013. Sarah also recently appeared on the latest series of the children’s TV show, Hi 5 as Tinka the Robot. Sarah has choreographed for the Starz Production Team, Australia, Glenda Allen Dance Academy, Hong Kong and also here in Singapore’s Attitude Performing Arts Studio. Sarah is always eager to pass on her love and passion for dance and the arts!

Kok Wen Jye graduated from LASALLE College of the Arts in 2007 with a Diploma in Dance

Kok Wen Jye graduated from LASALLE College of the Arts in 2007 with a Diploma in Dance. Her dance background includes ballet, contemporary, tap, jazz, hip hop and Chinese dance. She is experienced in teaching the RAD syllabus and has taught in Malaysia and has also Singapore. She has choreographed creative dance for children aged 10 for a competition in Malaysia, which won the 1st prize. Her artistic achievements include performances for Malaysia Dance Festival in 1995 by Louis Hawke, Comb by Ricky Sim, Shutter by Jaime Redfern, Another Cry and Monday Afternoon by Tammy L.Wong, and Four Legs in the Morning, Two at Noon, Three at Night by Loretta Livingston. Under mentorship of Ms. Suellen Mari De Villiers, Wen Jye attained her Register Teacher Status with the RAD (UK). In addition, she is also a registered member of the Commonwealth Society of Teachers of Dancing (CSTD)

Simone Lee Mei Loon began her training in ballet with Ms Alice Lee and attained her Grade 8 RAD in 1996

Simone Lee Mei Loon began her training in ballet with Ms Alice Lee and attained her Grade 8 RAD in 1996. She danced in SUNFLOWERS choreographed by Sharmini Winslow in a ticketing event, On the Verge, in 1999 and in the 5th Asia-Pacific Dance Competition (CSTD) on July 2003 with Arts at Tanglin- Young Alumni. She also danced in Chinggay 2005 and at the Esplanade Studio Theatre SCREAM & WHISPER in October 2006. She was involved in the production of graduation shows in her first year at Lasallesia and performed in graduation shows, HOYA and ZOU, in her second year. She graduated with a Diploma in Dance from Lasallesia, College of the Arts in May 2007. She has an intermediate Certificate in Children Development and early Childhood Education from RTRC. She has a 20 months old daughter.

Mrs. Jane Ch’ng ia a dance teacher with a passion to teach and groom school students for the Singapore Youth Festival (since 1974) and Regional (since 1999) Dance Competitions

Mrs. Jane Ch’ng ia a dance teacher with a passion to teach and groom school students for the Singapore Youth Festival (since 1974) and Regional (since 1999) Dance Competitions. She started Ballet training with Mrs. Florie Sunclaire from 1974. She continued studying Ballet, Jazz and Modern Comtemporary under the tutelage of Mrs. Alice Lee, Mr. Anthony Then and she developed a keen interest in choreography as a dance student.She is the Programme Developer and co-odinator of the Dance Education Programme (Boys’ Module) at Tanglin Secondary School where she works as a full-time secondary teacher. Mrs. Ch’ng attained her Registered Teacher Status with the Royal Academy of dance (UK).

Dr Elaine Tan hopes to give young dancers the opportunity to experience the joy (and discipline!) of ballet and for dance

Elaine Tan first squeezed happily into a leotard 30 years ago. She wandered away from ballet for 12 years, but was given a second chance in 1997 and has been under the guidance of Mr. Donato Ferrer since. Through teaching, she hopes to give young dancers the opportunity to experience the joy (and discipline!) of ballet and for dance to be part of their journey of self-discovery. One of her deepest personal desires for dance is for this beautiful art form to be reclaimed foremost as a language of worship.

Jeremy, Filipino, was a Performing Artiste at Universal Studios Singapore from 2009 to 2014

Jeremy, Filipino, was a Performing Artiste at Universal Studios Singapore from 2009 to 2014. He started dancing when he was in secondary and was awarded thrice as Performing Artist of the Year. Pursuing his love in dancing, he was granted scholarships at Ballet Manila (Philippines), Jitterbugs Swingapore and Peridance Capezio Centre (New York City, USA). Trained in different kinds of dances: Classical Ballet, Modern Jazz, Contemporary, Tap, Hiphop, West Coast Swing, Salsa, and Philippine Cultural Dances, he aims to share his love in dancing and inspire other people with it. Recently, he got his license as an Official Zumba Instructor and currently is finishing his teaching certificate/diploma in C.S.T.D. Classical Ballet and Modern Jazz

Ms Suellen Mari De Villiers developed her interest and passion in dance when she was in the National School of the Arts where ballet, dance and music were part of her subjects

Ms Suellen Mari De Villiers developed her interest and passion in dance when she was in the National School of the Arts where ballet, dance and music were part of her subjects. Upon graduation in 1992, her career as a ballet teacher took flight when she began to teach with the Colleen Rowland School of Dancing, Africa from 1993 till 2003. In this great expand of ten years, she had taught many students from the level of baby ballet up to the advance level.

Not only that, she choreographed for their yearly show productions and entering for Arts Festivals on a local and national level. In order to upgrade herself in the dance education, Suellen obtained her Royal Academy of Dancing certificate as a registered teacher in the year of 1996 where she passed with distinction. Since then, she had been entering candidates for the RAD examinations. Apart from ballet, Suellen was also a registered advance Spanish teacher, graduating from the Spanish Dance Society. Indeed her years of experience in the dance field, together with her dedication and passion for dance, had helped her much in order to be a qualified and experienced dance teacher.

Fiona Baird comes from Perth, Australia where she began dancing at the age of 3. She is the Co-Founder of Attitude Performing Group

Fiona Baird comes from Perth, Australia where she began dancing at the age of 3. Over the last 10 years, Fiona has taught throughout Australia and Hong Kong in various dance styles including ballet, jazz, tap, lyrical and acrobatics under The Commonwealth Society of Teacher’s of Dance (CSTD). In 2001, Fiona gained her full teacher’s theatrical diploma with the CSTD. She has also received her teaching certificates majoring in classical ballet and tap dance, and holds her advanced ballet certificate with Royal Academy of Dance. Fiona has been teaching at Attitude Performing Arts Studio since 2005. Her passion for choreography has led students of Attitude Performing Arts Studio to win awards at the 2006 recent Asia Pacific CSTD competitions in both group and solo works. Fiona is also a part time dance teacher at the LaSalle SIA College of The Arts. She specializes in jazz, tap, ballet and production song and dance, to Bachelor of Musical Theatre (Hons). Fiona also choreographed the 3rd year graduation showcase held at Esplanade Recital Theatre for the 2006 graduating musical theatre students.

Introducing our new dance teacher from Australia, Ms. Kelly. She holds a CSTD Teaching Diploma and CSTD Teachers Certificate in Modern Jazz. She can also teach Tap, Ballet, Contemporary, Hip Hop, Lyrical, to name a few.

She has been involved in many competition routines in all genres of dance and achieved excellent results. She has the experience, maturity, confidence and capabilities to teach our students and APAS is indeed honoured to have her teaching our dancers.

Elle-May has studied dance since the age of 4 at the prestigious Brent Street Studios in Sydney, Australia

Elle-May has studied dance since the age of 4 at the prestigious Brent Street Studios in Sydney, Australia. Before moving to Singapore to study musical theatre at LaSalle College of the Arts, Elle-May performed on Australian Idol, MTV Video Music Awards, Nickelodeon Kids Choice Awards, The Disney Channel, Australia’s Got Talent, Channel 7 Network, The Kerrie-Ann Show and many more.

She also played "Kylie" in the AFI Award winning film "The Black Balloon," and has appeared in several television commercials. She hopes to pursue a career in musical theatre upon graduating from LaSalle in 2012.

By a stroke of fate, Carine started ballet lessons at the age of 6 and has not looked back since. Today, she is a registered ballet teacher with the Royal Academy of Dance (RAD), and her passion is evident in her teaching. Complementing her ballet training is her expertise in pilates. With a strong belief that movement not only improves a person’s physical well-being but also builds inner confidence in an individual, Carine engages in a continuous pursuit for knowledge in both dance education and pilates to hone her skills further as a skilled teacher. Armed with both energy and passion, Carine hopes to inspire greater dance interest and create meaningful dance experiences for her students.
